Born in 1949 (a very good year), I grew up in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. I went to school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin where I received a BA in Econ & Philosophy and an MS in Accounting. I moved to Chicago where I spent about thirty years working in various accounting, financial and financial systems positions. For twenty-two of those years I was at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I have spent the last twenty years (and I hope some more) studying the humanities in the Basic Program of Liberal Studies at the University of Chicago. Since the early 2000s I have pursued the freedom of reading and the life of the mind.
