Saving Santa: a modest proposal

The economic survival of Santa is in question due to the economic downturn.  As reported by today's Wall Street Journal:

"Santa bookings have dropped so steeply that the Amalgamated Order of Real Bearded Santas, which represents 700 jolly souls in red velvet, held a series of meetings to discuss their economic survival."

I believe that this merely presents another opportunity for the Federal Economic Bailout experts in Washington (Congress).  What we need is a Santa Survival Stimulus Bill to pump money into municipalities across the country so they can continue to employ Santas.  Who wants to see Santas standing in the unemployment line, or worse yet, panhandling for their dinner (and that of the elfs and their reindeer)?  No one!  That is except for The Grinch, of course.
