Monuments to Greatness

Over at Rhyme of the Day John Enright comments on a visit he made to the Bingham Canyon Mine, a copper mine in Utah.  My reaction to his observations were to wonder at the magnificence and beauty of this creation of man.  But beyond that, I commented:

Copper mines are monuments to the greatness
Of men with vision, whose ability and willingness
to take risk upon themselves benefit all of us.

Without those great men who choose to recognize the possibilities in the reality around them and who choose to think and act upon them we would still be living in the dark ages of a world that is bound by belief and fear of the unknown.  We have a name for those men:  they are Capitalists.
